Cobblers!

I’ve got a 100% record at the Sixfields Stadium. I’d never visited it before today!

CTFC run out at Sixfields prior to another away victory

With Wednesdays EGM and coach tickets to sell on Thursday and Friday it’s been a busy week for us, and it’s been nice to get back to watching football. I suppose technically we did get to watch England from the comfort of Redz last night, but I’m not sure that qualified as football. Even Wayne Rooney was confused, he thought it was kickboxing. Perhaps his dad had a bet on a red card? Anyway, I’ll be happy with 1-0 away wins the whole season long, and whilst it wasn’t particularly pretty today, who cares?! We are top of the League (or at least we were when this was written…..).

Statistics from Sky suggest that both sides had the same number of shots on target. What they fail to mention is that Northampton had an extra player. Didn’t see him? Thats because Akinfenwa had eaten him before the game! I have never seen a footballer that size in my life- he made Micky Quinn look like slimmer of the year! If you’re too young to remember Micky Quinn, ask your dad! The Red Army sang, “are you Evans in disguise?” Well I’d say Steve is far slimmer!

Akinfenwa- Micky Quinn for the 21st Century!

Another positive is that the double decker Alliance coach was sold out. Our goal is to get more people following our team home and away, and we’re exceeding our estimates for away travel numbers match after match. We had to turn people away today, and we hate doing that, so please book early for Wimbledon. The second coach is almost full, and we can take half a dozen if necessary, but we need to book them as early as possible. So as Travel Ken would say, don’t delay, book today. Mind you, if you’d seen him dancing to the Village People before the game you might be inclined not to listen. Ken Blackmore and Paul Prendergast- a clear demonstration that care in the community doesn’t work!

Proof that Care in the Community doesn't work!

Anyway, we’re watching the Redz beating Bradford City on DVD whilst enjoying a smooth journey around the M25 – there’s a sentence you didn’t think you’d ever see- and the mood on the coach is very positive. For good reason. Our lads have proved once more that they’re a match for anyone in this division. And we have Pablo and Deano still to return.

The future is most definitely red!
