Following last night’s meeting of the CTSA Board, we have decided to trial the introduction of a child fare for all of our coach trips between now and the end of the season. We will then review the costs and, if it remains viable, will continue to do the same going forward.
We have been asked many times to introduce a child fare, but in the past we have resisted. This isn’t because we don’t like Children (though even Travel Matt and Ken between them would struggle to eat a whole one) but because of the way we calculate our costs. We run the cheapest official coaches in the Football League despite using the UK’s premier coach operator, and we do this by setting our prices at around a break even level. We calculate down to the smallest detail, and- of course- if we run a coach where half of those on board pay less than our break even fare, we make a loss. That said, we’re doing well financially, and we can probably afford to carry a small loss if it means that more Junior Reds get to watch the team play away, so we’ve decided to bite the bullet!
So please take advantage, bring the family for less, and let’s see if we can increase our away support to such a level that Dan P will have to find something else to moan about!
