Tom Bates, a Junior Red and committed CTFC fan, is currently working towards a Duke of Edinburgh Award. As part of the process, he has to write a number of short blogs and ask for feedback/ideas for future projects- and of course he’s picked his favourite subject, Crawley Town! We at the CTSA are happy to help (so long as we get an invite to the Palace, and we don’t mean Selhurst Park!), so will be publishing Tom’s blogs regularly- find them under the “News” menu. Best of luck Tom!
I attended the Crawley match with Yeovil on Tuesday 20th November 2012. I witnessed a number of goalscoring opportunities. The BBC sport football statistics after the match reveal that Crawley had 25 attempts at goal with 12 on target. Crawley dominated the game but couldn’t put their chances away. They were denied twice from the woodwork as well as having two efforts cleared off the line.
Following the match, Crawley Town manager Richie Barker said, “We just ran out of luck. I thought we were fantastic on what is a nigh-on impossible pitch, and we still tried to play in the right areas. He continued, “There was energy, desire, work-rate and skill in individual performances. It just wasn’t our day.”
I think we need more of your vocal support. So come along and cheer on your team. Come on you reds! How unlucky were we by hitting the post twice and getting cleared off the line twice! What did you think? How could our luck change?
Are you a junior red? If not find more details and information at http://www.crawleytownfc.com/fans/junior-fans/ on the Crawley Town FC website.
I’d like to have your views and comments on the way the team are playing at the moment, and to learn about the way you support your club.
Does Richie Barker need to change things around for us to get back to winning ways in the League?
Are you superstitious? If so, how?
Have you got a pre match routine? What is it?
How do you celebrate when we win- and what do you do when we lose?
Thanks for reading this- I’m looking forward to your comments, email me at comms@ctfcsa.co.uk

Great piece Tom, well done!
You may have noticed that there’s a CTSA page in every programme – would you like to write a piece for one of the programmes in the New Year? We’re looking for items from the Carlisle game on 19th Jan onwards. If you’re interested, please come and have a chat with me at the CTSA cabin at any home game (or on the coach if you’re going to any of the away games).
Hope to see you soon
Barb
Hi Tom
Hi Tom
Nice piece. Looks as though there is a budding sports writer amongst our junior reds fan base, good luck with everything. Not sure if you travel to away games but perhaps we could write a joint article about Fans festive experiences at either Portsmouth or Bournemouth. Look forward to meeting with you and your family at some stage

Question 1. Not sure there is too much for Richie to change. We just need a bit of luck tomorrow and we could be back up and running. A league goal from Gary would be fantastic even if it came off his backside !!
Question 2 Not superstitious at all. I don’t even care about walking under ladders !
Question 3 If at home like to meet up with a few people in Redz and watch the early match on TV. If away travel by CTSA coach and then meet up with some of our northern exiles (Crawley fans from the north) for a pre match beer and lunch.
Question 4 At home walk away from the Broadfield with a warmish glow but when we win away there is generally ecstatic scenes on the coach which we all participate. There have been some long away trips this season already, Carlisle and Hartlepool, for example. Its late when we get back and bed is usually calling !
Look forward to meeting you at some stage.
