As you will undoubtedly know unless you’ve just returned from darkest Peru, on 10th April the inaugural CTSA Golf Day -in association with the Sussex Carpet Centre- will be held at Hassocks Golf Course. Now we have only ten places left for aspiring golfers, all of whom will play alongside a CTFC player or a member of the management team, so if you want to play, act quickly, the details are below! However you can also caddy, and so far the best bids for caddies are as follows:
Dannie Bulman £20
Sergio Torres £20
Richie Barker £25
Steve Coppell £30
David Hunt £30
Now these players- and all of those on the list below- are still available for bids, with a minimum bid of £20. So you’ve still time to get involved, but don’t leave it too late! And, of course, if you just want to caddy for a friend who’s playing, there is a flat cost of £20 for that. All profits will be split between Chestnut Tree House Children’s Hospice and the CTSA Community Fund.
Right, the original article with all the details is below. Fore!
The Crawley Town Supporters Alliance are proud to announce their inaugural golf day in association with Sussex Carpet Centre, which will take place at Hassocks Golf Club on Wednesday 10th April. Twenty of your favourite CTFC players and officials will be taking part, and you can share the fairways with them, caddy for them if you like, share a nice meal and raise lots of money for charity at the same time! And best of all, you don’t even need to know your sand iron from your six wedge to take part!
The day will start with coffee and bacon rolls from 8.30 AM, and then at 10.30 nineteen fourballs will begin in the shadow of the beautiful South Downs. Then, when you’ve finished knocking the heck out of a little ball with a big stick, lunch will be served and the nineteenth hole will become the place of choice for all concerned, so you’ll get plenty of time to hobnob with your heroes. You may also be presented with your prize, which might be a trophy for nearest the pin, the longest drive, the most successful player or the most horrendous pair of trousers (we may have made one of these up). Or you may be lucky enough to win some signed memorabilia in our all star raffle.
So, how do you get involved? Here are the important details:
Each of the 19 fourballs will consist of one CTFC player/official and three supporters. Groupings will be drawn at random on Wednesday 27th March and publicised on the CTSA website at www.ctfcsa.co.uk. AND WE GUARANTEE THAT YOU WILL ALL GET TO PLAY AT LEAST NINE HOLES WITH A MEMBER OF THE FIRST TEAM SQUAD, AS WE WILL ROTATE THE GROUPS FOR THE BACK NINE! If you’d like to play, the cost will be £30 if you’re a CTSA member, £35 if you’re a non member, but places are limited to 57 so it will be first come first served! So make your reservation by emailing comms@ctfcsa.co.uk and then, once your reservation is confirmed, pay (cash or cheque please) via the club during office hours- you will need to pay within seven days of your reservation being confirmed to guarantee your place. The greatest handicap allowed on the day will be a maximum of 24 for men or 36 for women (so if your handicap is higher we’ll need you to play off 24/36), and you must be dressed appropriately- smart/casual, no trainers or football shirts!
Now, onto those of us who don’t know one end of a golf stick from the other! You can caddy for your favourite player or official by making an email bid to comms@ctfcsa.co.uk- and we’ll update bids twice a week on the CTSA website. Bids can be a minimum of £20 (including food/refreshments), and must be made by 9 AM on Wednesday 27th March, after which the winning bidders will be contacted and payment will become due. Payment must be made within seven days of the auction ending or the place will be offered to the person making the next best bid. Of course, if you don’t want to be part of the auction and instead just want to caddy for your playing friend or partner instead that’s fine, but we’ d ask for £20 per caddy- again to include coffee, bacon rolls and lunch.
All profits will be split between Chestnut Tree House Children’s Hospice and CTSA Community Projects. For more information, please call Owen Pickering on 07838227175 or email him on owenrpickering@hotmail.com, or alternatively email comms@ctfcsa.co.uk.
Oh, and to answer your next question, here’s a list of who from CTFC will be playing, so you know who you can bid for in the caddy auction: Richie Barker, Anthony Williams, Steve Coppell, Craig Brewster, Paul Jones, Mark Connolly, Mike Jones, Billy Clarke, David Hunt, Dannie Bulman, Sergio Torres, Kyle McFadzean, Jonte Smith, Nicky Adams, Marco Quasimodo (Kitman), Bruce Talbot (Media manager), James Barker (Physio), Niall Clark (Nutritionist), Ewan Dunlop (Commercial), Ryan Murrant (Marketing).
