An Alliance coach full of fans made the long journey to Hereford leaving the Broadfield around 9am. Even though several key players were out through injury and despite Hereford’s recent good form most were confident of a tight away victory.

The journey was generally uneventful as the roads were luckily very quiet, which made for a stress free trip and a 1pm arrival. Dan Palmer won Travel Ken’s Football quiz this week, scoring 22 out of 33 and winning a free trip on an Alliance Coach (from the Broadfield to the WH depot…….only joking!). This is Dan’s second victory- he also won on the way back from Morecambe- and we’re beginning to believe that he has incriminating photographs of Travel Ken! For our FA Cup trip to Bury Ken will be concentrating his questions around CTFC, so start swotting! Some fans ventured into the town centre for a quick lunch but many congregated in the aptly named stadium bar Radford’s ( in honour of Ronnie Radford). Gill Courtnell (Pound Hill) Alliance member and season ticket holder said ‘ going to matches on the coach really adds to the excitement of the day, it’s great to feel the cameraderie between the fans, there is a diverse group of people on this coach all supporting the same goal. She added ‘ the Alliance is doing everything possible to get more fans to travel, this current 3 match deal is amazing !!’

Edgar Street is definitely one for the traditionalists. Covered home terrace, main stand and the fascinating Cargill Stand which runs along the entire length of the pitch. There is seating upstairs offering a wonderful view of the action and terracing downstairs. With some away fans electing to use the seats and some standing up there was plenty of room to be had.

journey’s, CTSA makes it all very easy ! She added ‘ I hope we get a good
win today’.

After virtually giving them the lead we were knocking on the door for the rest of the match. It looked a heavy pitch out there today which may have had a hand in the play. During the second half we just couldn’t find that cutting edge. Josh Simpson had a great game and was my man of the match but ultimately I do feel that 3 points were there for the taking’.

A long day came to an end as fans got back to Crawley around 9pm. Possibly not what you might call a classic away adventure but it has garnered another important point towards promotion.
